Opening ceremony for Flash Battery’s new HQ

More than 120 people, including journalists and political, civil and religious leaders, took part in the ribbon cutting of Flash Battery’s new headquarters on Friday, 1 October 2021.
We are very excited to share with you the news of the event that was held last 1 October, the day CEO Marco Righi and CTO Alan Pastorelli played hosts and inaugurated, after more than a year’s wait, the new Flash Battery headquarters. The new production site of the European battery manufacturer provides 3,200 square metres of space, accommodating 150 workstations and with room for a 5,000-square-metre expansion.
Since 2012, a constantly growing lithium battery producer
Our new headquarters are the concrete result of the challenge we took on nine years ago and the architecture clearly reveals the leap from young start-up to international company.
Technological and product values emerge from the spaces of the building, reflecting the growth of the company. Flooded with natural light and including large glazed surfaces and bespoke coloured furnishings, the offices focus on the well-being of the people, to allow their full potential to show.
During his opening speech, our CEO Marco Righi expressed his gratitude to everyone at the event but also to collaborators. In fact, the young, tight-knit and multi-skilled team has been Flash Battery’s added value all these years, earning it an important place in the market as a manufacturer of lithium batteries for industrial applications.
Sustainability as an act of responsibility towards people and the environment
Over the last few years, there have been committed efforts in this sector to safeguard the ecosystem and the environment. At Flash Battery, we too have incorporated sustainability into our operations by choosing not to use materials that are harmful for the environment in our lithium batteries (such as cobalt), reducing plastic packaging, and sourcing easily recyclable and sustainable components. These criteria were also applied in the construction of the lithium battery production site and offices.
The topic of sustainability was also touched upon by the President of the Emilia-Romagna Region, Stefano Bonaccini, our guest at the opening ceremony:
“The resources on the way from the European Union will open up amazing opportunities in a context of confirmed economic recovery so we must work to ensure that ecological transition is central to those new opportunities.”
People and environment are therefore the pillars upon which Flash Battery’s ideology rests, along with the long-term friendship between Alan and Marco, which grew stronger in that “GARAGE” where the adventure began with the first prototypes and after which one of the most important spaces at the new headquarters was named.
The importance of cooperation was also underlined by Reggio Emilia Bishop, Monsignor Camisasca:
“Everything began with a friendship; that’s a heavy and impactful word. To be excellent at something, we must cooperate”.
Successful cooperation and engagement with the local community
Building collaborative partnerships is something that Flash Battery has been good at over the years. In 2013, Marco made the first contact with E80 Group, the worldwide leader in automation and integrated logistics that eventually chose our lithium batteries for its industrial goods handling systems, a challenge that drove our growth.
Present at the event, E80 Group President Enrico Grassi reiterated the need to invest in young people and the local community:
“Our group has always believed in young entrepreneurs. We immediately sensed Alan and Marco’s drive and passion and recognised that their batteries would have added value to our vehicles internationally. At E80 Group, our aim has always been to have people who work ‘with’ us and not ‘for’ us and we strongly believe in a short supply chain and developing our local community”.

These are values that we, too, uphold because integration with the local region is an essential asset. Carlo Perucchetti, mayor of Sant’Ilario, expressed his pride at seeing such an important presence in his town.
We are proud to say that we have taken part in a number of worthy initiatives and that our suppliers are located within a radius of 50 kilometres from our site, an important sign that fosters a good economy and economic development accessible to all. Sense of local and community belonging represents one of the core values of an enterprise, as underscored by Fabio Storchi, President of Unindustria.
We feel very grateful to have shared this important milestone in our journey as a lithium battery company with our collaborators and all our guests and the fact that we made it happen in less than ten years gives us a great sense of satisfaction.
We are aware of the responsibilities we are taking on within the entrepreneurial landscape of Reggio Emilia and now that the signs of economic recovery are showing, we want to continue to prove that young capable entrepreneurs and opportunities do exist and co-exist within a circular economy.
