Airport Electric Vehicles: why will they only run with lithium batteries in the future? | Flash Battery

Discover our technology

The Ground Support Equipment powered with traditional lead acid batteries take 8 to 10 hours to perform a full charge with a significant impact on the efficiency of the vehicle, resulting in long machine stops.

Conventional lead-acid batteries do not allow fast or partial charging, and they will deteriorate over time if they are charged this way. Their use is not permitted to avoid a drastic reduction in their battery life. While thanks to their fast charging capacity, by using Flash Battery lithium batteries, the fleet of machines used at the airport benefits from highly flexible use.

When we approached Flash Battery, Charlatte was already familiar with lithium technology. It’s easy to see why we chose Flash Battery: it offers our customers maximum flexibility, with zero-maintenance batteries suited to different applications, and allows our machinery to work even in extreme temperature conditions. Its remote control system also lets our end customers constantly check that their accumulators are running properly and prevents potential problems and unexpected downtime with the vehicle. Last but not least, unlike conventional lead-acid batteries, Flash Battery lithium batteries do not deteriorate and keep the same characteristics over time. Alongside their attractive business offer, Flash Battery proved to be a fully transparent partner in terms of their technical expertise and knowledge right from the outset. This was also a decisive factor when we chose to start our partnership. What’s more, Flash Battery has shown great flexibility in adapting their products to our machines and to various applications. Their products are smart and I believe there is room for potential growth in this market
