Raw Materials with Low Environmental Impact
Environmental stewardship starts with product design. Our lithium batteries, which primarily use Li-Fe-PO4 (LFP) chemistry are born from thorough research aimed at serving the industrial machinery and vehicle market while reducing our ecological footprint.
This technology is safe, stable, and long-lasting, and it avoids using manganese and cobalt—critical and costly materials, particularly cobalt, that come with serious environmental and ethical concerns.
In promoting the sustainable development of our batteries, we focus on making sure all materials, components, and products we use can be traced throughout the entire supply chain. We partner with suppliers who are dedicated to the principles of a circular economy and show a genuine commitment to environmental, energy and social sustainability.
Embracing Ecological Transition: Our Business Commitment
Environmental responsibility is woven into every aspect of our company. From product development and new technologies to adopting sustainable practices at our Reggio Emilia headquarters, we are all in.
Carbon Neutral and Plastic Free
Our commitment to promoting a sustainable growth model shapes our everyday decisions. We’ve eliminated fossil fuels from our headquarters and use cutting-edge technologies to generate clean, renewable energy, optimise consumption and reduce our carbon footprint.
With our 310 kW solar array, we independently meet about 80% of our energy needs. In 2020, we strengthened our commitment to reducing waste and protecting the environment, by eliminating plastic bottles.
To minimise our production’s environmental impact, we streamlined our supply chain. We now prioritise sourcing supplies within a 50 km radius and have implemented methodologies that use fewer resources, making our production processes leaner, less polluting and free of processing waste.

ISO 14001 Environmental Certification
In January 2022, we proudly achieved DNV certification for our environmental management system, meeting ISO 14001 standards. This recognition reflects Flash Battery’s daily commitment to reducing the immediate and long-term environmental impacts of our operations, products, and services.
Our ISO 14001 certification has allowed us to create an integrated environmental management system that aligns with our core values. Through this system, we assess processes, keep a close eye on our direct and indirect environmental impacts, and implement improvement actions aimed at reaching net-zero status.
Sustainability Awards
At Flash Battery, sustainability is a journey that spans from our products and processes to the core values of our team, touching every part of the company. This dedication has helped us earn numerous awards over the years.
We’ve won several sustainability awards and continue to participate in these competitions to share our progress and benchmark ourselves against other green-minded companies. By doing so, we learn from different experiences and contribute to building a more environmentally, energy and socially sustainable future.
Pioneering Sustainable Solutions through R&D
At Flash Battery, we know that building a sustainable future requires a strong investment in research and development.
We’re committed to exploring new materials and gaining advanced skills to keep improving our batteries’ efficiency and lifespan, without forgetting the production processes involved.
Our mission is to drive green innovation that not only meets the challenges of the European Green Deal but also stays ahead of European regulations, by designing and producing advanced lithium batteries that are kind to the environment.
European Battery Roadmap
The European Union has set a significant milestone for the coming decades: advancing the technological progress of the battery sector while ensuring a controlled value chain with a minimal environmental impact.
To achieve this, the European Battery Regulation was introduced in 2023, providing a framework to make the European battery value chain more sustainable.
From the European battery passport and carbon footprint declaration to initiatives promoting recycling, Flash Battery has been at the forefront of designing and producing increasingly sustainable lithium batteries right from the design stage.
The Flash Battery R&D Team’s Drive
With 35% of our workforce in the R&D department, we are always exploring new materials and enhancing our skills to boost efficiency and sustainability.
Our production process is free of polluting stages, and our Flash Battery lithium batteries are designed for easy recycling, thanks to their disassembly-friendly structure.
Additionally, our proprietary remote monitoring system Flash Data Center takes advantage of artificial intelligence to extend battery life by providing continuous monitoring and predictive diagnostics, based on daily automatic data analysis from all our batteries worldwide.
Lithium Battery Recycling
Lithium battery recycling is still in its infancy because these batteries often outlive the vehicles they power. While it’s proven that over 96% of battery materials can be recovered, specialised recycling facilities are at least 10 to 15 years away. For now, manufacturers must prioritise raw materials and design to make recycling more efficient when the infrastructure is ready.
All Flash Battery lithium batteries already follow a low environmental impact production process, taking disposal and recycling into account from the beginning. We avoid harmful materials and eliminate polluting steps plus our designs make end-of-life disassembly straightforward and efficient.
